Although ACVE is still relatively young as an organisation, our roots go back to ‘ICYE New Zealand’, which began in 1964.
ICYE New Zealand played an integral role in developing the global ICYE Program, gradually building a strong international exchange network.
In the mid-2000s, a refresh of name and structure was needed, and in February 2011 Aotearoa Cultural & Volunteer Exchange (ACVE) was officially incorporated.
Since then, ACVE has sent and hosted over 800 long-term volunteers, partnered with more than 20 charities across Aotearoa New Zealand, and now connects with over 40 countries worldwide.
ACVE continues to evolve its programs and offer meaningful opportunities to young people from Aotearoa and around the world. We’re proud of how far we’ve come and excited for what lies ahead.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for being part of our journey as we celebrate 15 years of ACVE!
