Project Description of Tasks:
-
Disconnect from a rushed lifestyle and embrace a more natural pace. Wake up to nature’s orchestra of sounds and join a lovingly prepared breakfast. Each day, we learn from the process of nature, from planting seeds to nurturing plants, harvesting, and finally enjoying the fruits of our labour.
-
In the edible forest, we witness the slow growth of fruit trees, many of which we planted in the last three years. Many are now 2-3 metres tall. In the surrounding secondary forest, we can also admire older trees such as ficus, cedro nogal, targuá, and more.
-
Depending on the current project, we may harvest large guadua bamboo canes, process them, and use them for construction in later projects. Bamboo is used to build various structures, including the greenhouse, composting centre, recycling centre, composting toilet/shower, and the tepee. In the tepee, we gather for campfires, music jamming sessions, and ceremonies such as cacao rituals and men's or women's circles.
-
Afternoons are free time for volunteers to relax, read, write, take a walk, socialise with the community, or enjoy any activity of their choice.
-
We go to bed early, between 9-10pm, to ensure a restful night.
-
Weekends are also free time. There are many local attractions nearby, such as the Irazu Volcano, Guayabo Archaeological National Monument, and Organic Markets, which volunteers can visit.
-
Wellbeing practices like meditation and exercise are an important part of our daily routine.
