Thriftwood is a Scout Activity Centre dedicated to helping young people grow and develop. Founded in 1957 as a living memorial to Scouts who lost their lives in the two world wars, we have welcomed Scouts from around the world for camping, challenges, and fun. Today, we continue to run programmes for Scouts, Guides, youth groups, and schools, aiming to inspire and support personal growth spiritually, mentally, and physically.

Our team delivers adventurous activities that challenge people of all ages, helping them discover their strengths and develop new skills. As an instructor, you could lead activities such as archery, climbing, kayaking, high ropes, orienteering, bushcraft, and team-building games. Through these experiences, you’ll help participants push their limits, build confidence, and work together.

Hertfordshire Scouts' Activity Centres support the growth and development of young people through programmes for Scouts, Guides, youth groups, and schools. They offer a variety of outdoor and adventure activities across two beautiful sites featuring meadows, woodlands, accommodation, and camping grounds. These activities are designed to challenge people of all ages, helping them discover their strengths and push their limits.

Volunteers lead and support adventurous activities such as climbing, abseiling, archery, high ropes, orienteering, bushcraft, and team-building challenges. They also help run large-scale events like weekend camps, leadership training weekends, and outdoor skills workshops that bring together Scouts and youth groups from across the region.

Blackwell Adventure is a charitable outdoor centre owned by the Scout Association County of Birmingham. The Scout Association helps children and young people reach their full potential by building skills such as teamwork, leadership, planning, initiative, self-motivation, and cultural awareness.

By joining our team, you’ll work alongside other instructors to deliver high-quality residential camps and outdoor adventure activities in a safe, supportive environment. Activities could include abseiling, archery, climbing, ziplining, orienteering, bushcraft, and team challenges. Your role is to give every visitor the best possible experience and help them grow in confidence, skills, and self-belief.
